Relief takes a lot of time to come....

I was watching a documentary last night, which was dealing with the lives of post tsunami in India. Although it has been 2 years that the disaster has stuck the world, in India, the government has not taken any steps to face these disasters in future. There was an interview with an official about the warning systems that have been setup for future use in the costal areas and he says that they have set up a warning system through SMS and nothing else … whaooooo it has taken 2 years for the Indian government to setup an SMS warning system, that’s a lot of time and how many fisher man do you thing carry a cell phone? The Kerala government has come up with a 100 crores package with a relief amount of 1 Lakh for each family who lost their loved ones in the disaster. Wow that’s a gr8 news, but don’t you think that it’s been too early (just after 2 years) for the government to release a relief package? Now the government would ask the families to prove that the person really died in Tsunami….to give them the money, rather than sharing their grief, they would make a fresh wound. Nobody really knows how much of this money really goes to the needy. More than half of it would go into some minister’s hand which would definitely help him to buy a big house. It may be Tsunami or earthquake in Kashmir or bomb blast in Mumbai trains, or anything the government has always been slow to respond. It may not be only a disaster, but anything take it from giving a statement against China or Pakistan, take it a murder trail of Jessica Lal, take it the mercy petition of Afzal, the government has been always slow….
Whaooooo… it has been a lot of government bashing, even though I am apolitical, sometimes it really hurts to see such news. You help a person whom you don’t even know, but the public is their vote bank, whom the parties and politicians know very well, but cannot come for their help when something happens to them? I don’t want to say that it would never change, but may be some of the rules should be changed for the betterment of the country.
Anyway guys its time for me to go and have my lunch, wanted to have a pleasant topic as my first blog , but this news just triggered me to write something. Even though it doesn’t change the government it makes me feel good to write something about how I feel.
